Period accommodation
The American and French troops will be quartered in and near a tavern. This is one of the many outbuildings on the site.

British troops will, of course, be inside the fort. We have separate quarters for the officers, and a barracks building (known as the guides house,) that holds 34 wooden bunks.

The Native village, just outside the fort, has a few small birch wig wa's, large enough for 4 to 6 people.  There is lots of room to put up your own lodge.  We have a nice level grassed area for that.  (The site requests that only Aboriginal or First Nations peoples use the actual Native village.)

Cavalry will be accommodated in a separate area, known as the agret. It has a fenced yard, easy access to a well, and shade for the horses.

In addition to this, there is lots of space to put up your tent. The British streets will be set up in the canoe yard, and the American Line will be behind the farm cottages.  There is additional space near the tavern for more American tents.

Cookware and Rations

Each camp will have a "Matron" or host. (The Natives will have their own arrangement.) The British and American Matrons will be there to help the camp followers get organized.

We will provide each camp with cookware, firewood and rations. The participants are expected to do the cooking and washing up. The Matron will help to organize the cooking and cleaning as needed. Be prepared to "Pitch In!"

If you do not wish to be part of the common cooking, please bring your own cooking gear.  We will still provide the rations and firewood, for you.

Special Needs

Do you have special needs? Food allergies are the most common. If so, then let us know. If you are not sure, just ask, and you will get help. (Your camp matron will also be able to help with questions, like "Where is the nearest bank?" or "Where is the powder magazine?")

Powder

Powder will be provided. Only site provided cartridges are to be used. Musket cartridges will come in blue paper and be of two sizes. 100gr FF and 60gr FFF will be the standard issue. Muskets under .69 bore will be issued the smaller cartridge. Cartridges will be in packets of 10, and will be designed to fit into a standard British 60rd tin insert box. Those with Rawls or wooden insert boxes will be able to open the packets and place the cartridges in one at a time.

Facilities

The fort has modern toilette and shower facilities. There are hand pumps with potable water wells in the dairy yard of the farm, and outside the kitchen behind the great hall. There is plenty of fire wood. There is clean straw in the barn. A "Building Safety Officer" will be on hand to ensure that you have what you need. (All buildings have a hidden fire alarm!) Some of the buildings will have hearths. Please follow the Building Safety Officer's instructions for their use.
